VISUALITY & CULTURE
My academic research conducted during my undergraduate and graduate studies is grounded in the field of Visual and Media Anthropology–a discipline that converges at the intersection of visual, media, and cultural studies that examines the visual dimensions of culture and the cultural dimensions of visuality, i.e., how visuality informs culture and, simultaneously, how culture informs visuality. By studying developments in visuality and media (such as fine art, craft, photography, film, digital platforms, and emerging technologies) and positioning these phenomena as forms of cultural expression, this branch of inquiry explores how visual practices shape identity, memory, power, and social relations.
